U.S. Rep. Boren Conducts Social Security Town Hall Meetings
Lawmaker says he will oppose plan to privatize Social Security

WASHINGTON D.C - U.S. Representative Dan Boren wrapped up a tour of Town Hall Meetings all throughout the 2nd District to discuss Social Security and other upcoming issues of the 109th Congress.

“Social Security is a bedrock in many places throughout my district,” said Boren.

“There are many seniors here that depend on Social Security as their sole source of income. We owe it to them to keep the program solvent and continue to ensure that the prospect of retirement is not met with the specter of poverty,” Boren added.

Boren continued, “My office has already received a lot of worried calls from constituents from all over the district. They can rest assured that I will work with members of both parties to oppose privatizing their retirement investments. Social Security is a promise to our seniors, a guarantee of dignity and independence – we should not put that promise to an unknown risk.”
