BOREN ANNOUNCES FEMA ASSISTANCE TO ADDITIONAL OKLAHOMA COUNTIES

14 additional Oklahoma counties added to Disaster Declaration

MUSKOGEE, OKLA - Congressman Dan Boren announced today that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has approved additional Oklahoma counties to be added to the federal disaster declaration originally issued on January 10, 2006.  Under the amended declaration, individuals in those counties will be eligible for federal assistance for losses suffered by wildfires since late November.

Across Oklahoma, 14 new counties will be added.  They are Bryan, Carter, Choctaw, Creek, McIntosh, Murray, Muskogee, Okmulgee, Osage, Payne, Pittsburg, Pontotoc, Tulsa, and Wagoner Counties.

“We are extremely pleased that these additional counties will be added to the list.  This relief is long overdue, but I’m thankful that families in these affected areas will be getting help soon,” Boren said.

On January 12, Boren sent a letter to acting FEMA Director R. David Paulison, asking that he approve requests for the addition of certain counties for individual assistance in Oklahoma to the federal disaster declaration. “Helping individuals and businesses rebuild must be a top priority in the aftermath of this disaster,” Boren said in a separate statement.
