BOREN AWARDED GUARDIAN OF SMALL BUSINESS AWARD

WASHINGTON D.C. - U.S. Representative Dan Boren was presented with the “Guardian of Small Business” award from the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB).  NFIB, the nation’s leading small-business association, awarded Boren the honor for his outstanding voting record on behalf of America’s small-business owners in the 110th Congress.  Boren was one of only twelve Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives to receive the award, and with a rating of 90 is the highest-rated Democrat in the United States.

“It is an honor to receive this award on behalf of the small business owners of eastern Oklahoma,” Boren said.  “Small businesses are the driving force of our state’s economy.  They create jobs, spur local development, and demonstrate the innovation that sets our nation apart in a global economy.”

NFIB’s voting record tallied 10 key small-business votes in the U.S. House of Representatives taken during the 2007 and 2008 sessions.  Issues range from tax relief, card-check legislation, protection from frivolous lawsuits, and regulatory reform.

“The record shows that Rep. Boren is a true champion of small business, having stood strong on the key small-business votes in the 110th Congress,” NFIB President and CEO Ted Stottlemyer said.  “This award reflects our members’ appreciation for supporting the NFIB pro-growth agenda for small business.”

Boren has also been recognized by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the American Farm Bureau Federation and the National Association of Manufacturers for his voting record.
