BOREN TOURS PICHER STORM DAMAGE

WASHINGTON D.C. - U.S. Congressman Dan Boren joined federal, state, and local officials in the rescue and recovery effort today while also touring the extent of damage to the community of Picher.  He visited with town officials and emergency responders regarding the urgent needs facing the community after last night's storm.  Boren spoke with residents who experienced the tragedy created by yesterday's high winds and flying debris.

“My heart goes out to all of the Picher families that lost so much in the storms last night.  First, we must do everything we can to make sure all are safe and accounted for, and allow recovery teams and early damage assessments to be completed.  The state and local emergency responders are to be commended for their dedication and resolve.  Ottawa County and many other areas across the Second District and Oklahoma are reeling from spring's severe weather.  I am committed to working with the entire Oklahoma Congressional Delegation and Governor Henry to provide any and all assistance for the affected areas.”
