NATURAL RESOURCES COMMITTEE APPROVES BOREN HALE SCOUTS BILL

WASHINGTON D.C. - The House Natural Resources Committee today considered U.S. Congressman Dan Boren’s HALE Scouts Act, H.R. 2675, agreeing unanimously to pass the measure out of Committee.  The Act would allow the Indian Nations Council Boy Scout, Inc. to expand the Hale Scout Reservation (Camp Tom Hale) through a land purchase. The land purchase would provide an additional 140 acres of U.S. Forest Service land located in the Ouachita National Forest immediately adjacent to the existing Camp Tom Hale facility.  Boren issued the following statement:

“I am very pleased that the HALE Scouts Act received unanimous bipartisan approval today from the full Natural Resources Committee.  This is a great step forward for the future of Camp Tom Hale and thousands of Boy Scouts.  As Boy Scouts across Oklahoma look forward to a full season of outdoor activities at Camp Hale, they can celebrate the fact that the Indian Nations Council Boy Scouts are one step closer to acquiring the necessary acreage for additional camp and training space.  Since the subcommittee hearing last week I have heard from several Scouts, both current and former, about the special distinction Camp Hale holds in their lives and the life-long memories they made there.  Now that the bill has moved out of Committee, I look forward to working with Leadership to bring it to the House Floor for a vote.”
