BOREN SECURES $100,000 FOR
LOCAL HEALTH CENTER

WASHINGTON D.C. - U.S. Congressman Dan Boren has secured $100,000 to benefit the Family Health Center of Southern Oklahoma in Tishomingo. The funding was part of the Labor, Health and Human Services and Education Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2008 which passed the House on Thursday.

“Improving our community-based health care centers is something that is very important to me,” Boren said. “I’m pleased to provide these resources to expand vital services and family health options in eastern Oklahoma. I am committed to providing federal funds for projects like this to invest in our health care infrastructure.”

The $100,000 award will purchase new digital radiology equipment for the Family Health Center. The equipment will allow the center to offer radiology service to better treat and diagnose patients. The award will allow the center to replace current leased equipment. After the completion of the center’s new facility scheduled for January 2008, the leased equipment will no longer be available. The Tishomingo health facility provides greater access to important health services for citizens in rural communities.
