BOREN SECURES $300,000 TO ESTABLISH
LOCAL WELLNESS FACILITIES

WASHINGTON D.C. - U.S. Congressman Dan Boren has secured $300,000 to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Delaware County’s Family Wellness Center. The funding was part of the Labor, Health and Human Services and Education Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2008 which passed the House on Thursday.

“Improving our community and family wellness is something that is very important to me,” Boren said. “I’m pleased to provide these vital resources to expand family health opportunities and to invest in the future of our children’s health.”

The Center will teach families wellness through diet, physical, and emotional health activities. Funds will be used for exercise equipment, staff, and activities in three Boys & Girls Club units in Jay, Moseley and Kansas (OK). There are five Club units in Delaware County and the wellness facilities will be placed in locations in which housing for the equipment is available.
