BOREN ANNOUNCES $52,100 GRANT FOR THE STIGLER MUNICIPAL AIRPORT

WASHINGTON D.C. - U.S. Congressman Dan Boren announced today the award of a $52,100 grant to the Stigler Municipal Airport.  The grant, awarded by the Federal Aviation Administration, will be used to construct a runway extension at the airport.  The extension of runways 17 and 35 will enhance safety for the larger aircraft currently operating at the airport.  It will also allow additional users to begin operating at the airport.

“I am pleased to announce that this money is headed to Eastern Oklahoma,” Boren said.  “I am committed to providing federal funds for projects like this to build, maintain and repair our infrastructure,” Boren said.  “The airport provides an economic boost to the town of Stigler, and I am committed to doing whatever I can to help that economy prosper.”

The Stigler Municipal Airport is classified as a District Airport.  According to the Oklahoma Aeronautics Commission, district airports provide access to regions of the state that Regional Business Airports are unable to service.

“We are pleased to be chosen for this grant and look forward to completing the project,” Stigler City Manager Pete Bass said.  “We appreciate Congressman Boren’s assistance in securing this funding and will continue to work with him on future projects to improve our community.”
