BOREN AWARDED NFIB ‘GUARDIAN OF SMALL BUSINESS’ AWARD

CLAREMORE, Okla. - U.S. Representative Dan Boren was in Claremore Tuesday afternoon to accept the “Guardian of Small Business” award from the National Federation of Independent Business.  NFIB, the nation’s leading small-business advocacy group, awarded Boren the honor for his outstanding voting record on behalf of America’s small-business owners in the 109th Congress.  Boren was one of only three Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives to receive a 100 percent rating from the organization.

“Every Oklahoman has an interest in seeing our small businesses thrive,” Boren said.  “They are creating jobs, growing our tax base and improving our quality of life.”

NFIB’s voting record tallies 14 key small-business votes in the U.S. House of Representatives.  Issues range from tax policy and affordable health care to liability and regulatory reform.

“The record shows that Rep. Boren is a true champion of small business, having stood strong on the key small-business votes in the 109th Congress,” NFIB President and CEO Ted Stottlemyer said.  “This award reflects our members’ appreciation for supporting the NFIB pro-growth agenda for small business.”

Boren has also been recognized by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the American Farm Bureau Federation and the National Association of Manufacturers for his pro-growth voting record.
