BOREN ANNOUNCES $2 MILLION IN EDUCATION FUNDING

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Congressman Dan Boren announced today $2,170,175 in federal education grants for Oklahoma’s Second Congressional District.  Eight programs in Eastern Oklahoma received funding through the U.S. Department of Education’s TRIO program.

“This federal funding will give many Oklahoma students, who wouldn't otherwise have the opportunity, a chance to prepare for a college education,” Boren said.  “This is an important tool we can give students to prepare for a good job and a bright future.”

TRIO is an educational opportunity outreach program designed to motivate and support students from disadvantaged backgrounds. TRIO includes six outreach and support programs targeted to serve and assist low-income, first-generation college students, and students with disabilities to progress through the academic pipeline from middle school to post-baccalaureate programs.
