BOREN NAMED ASSISTANT WHIP

WASHINGTON D.C - Just halfway through his first term in Congress, U.S. Representative Dan Boren has been appointed an assistant whip by Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Md.).

“I am honored to serve as an assistant whip,” Boren said.  “I look forward to working with Mr. Hoyer to make sure the rural, conservative voice is heard by House Democrats.”

As an assistant whip, Boren will be responsible for tracking legislation and monitoring the position of a handful of his colleagues on key issues.  He will work with Hoyer to improve and maintain communication among members of the House Democratic Caucus.

“As a young, energetic member of Congress, and someone who is truly in touch with the values of America’s heartland, Dan will be a great addition to the whip team as an assistant whip.  He stands firmly behind America’s families and America’s communities, and will help Democrats effectively communicate our message of strength at home and abroad, quality health care and education and expanded economic opportunities for all Americans,” Hoyer said.

“I will use my position on the Democratic whip team to continue my work for Oklahoma’s priorities,” Boren said.  “We all have to come together to protect our borders, provide affordable health care, create jobs and address our nation’s energy problems.  I remain committed to working with colleagues on both sides of the aisle to do just that.”
