BOREN SECURES $900,000
FOR ROAD IN MCCURTAIN COUNTY

WASHINGTON D.C - U.S. Representative Dan Boren announced today that he has secured $900,000 for the Pickens-Battiest road in northern McCurtain County.  The funding was part of the Transportation, Treasury, and Housing Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2006 which passed the House today.

Northern McCurtain County is one of the least accessible locations in Oklahoma,” Boren said.  “Completion of the Pickens-Battiest road will open up the area for tourism development and give residents better access to vital goods and services, such as health care.”

“I am extremely pleased that we were able to secure funding for this project,” Boren said.  “This funding will help complete six miles of the road and replace three bridges.”

“I am committed to providing federal funds for projects like this to build, maintain and repair our infrastructure,” Boren said.  “In Oklahoma, our transportation network is the backbone of our economy and it’s important that we invest in that.”
