BOREN ANNOUNCES TWO STIMULUS GRANTS IN JOHNSTON COUNTY
 

WASHINGTON D.C. - U.S. Congressman Dan Boren today announced the selection of INCA Community Services, Inc as the recipient of a $42,750 federal grant and a $399,999 federal grant for the Johnston County Industrial Authority made possible by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, or stimulus package.

“I am pleased this funding is coming to Johnston County.  I know these resources will greatly assist INCA with community projects and services, and the industrial authority with business development initiatives.  I voted for the stimulus because it was a short-term, one-time injection of funds that will provide critical infrastructure improvements, enhance community services and programs, expand educational opportunities, business development, and grant tax relief, while saving and creating jobs,” Boren said.

The $399,000 grant to the Johnston County Industrial Authority is part of $15.3 million in federal funding announced Tuesday for 145 recipients nationwide to start or expand businesses in rural communities. 

The funding announced today is being is being provided through USDA Rural Development's Rural Business Enterprise Program (RBEG), which helps finance new and existing businesses as well as employment-related adult education programs. RBEG funds can be used for start-up and working capital loans, building and plant renovations, transportation improvements, project planning and other business needs. The $42,750 grant to INCA Community Services, Inc. is part of $58.1 million in federal funding announced today for 104 community projects across the nation.

The funding announced today is being provided through USDA Rural Development’s Community Facilities program, which helps finance essential community facilities for public use in rural areas. These facilities include child care centers, hospitals, medical clinics, assisted-living facilities, fire and rescue stations, police stations, community centers, public buildings and transportation. Through this program, USDA ensures that such facilities are available to all rural residents. Local governments, non-profit organizations, and recognized Indian tribes are eligible to apply for funding.
