BOREN CONGRATULATES OKLAHOMAN, KIM TEEHEE, ON HER APPOINTMENT TO OBAMA’S ADMINISTRATION

WASHINGTON D.C. - U.S. Congressman Dan Boren issued the following statement today regarding the appointment of Kimberly Teehee, a 1986 graduate of Claremore High School and a 1991 graduate of Northeastern State University, on her appointment as the Obama Administration’s Senior Policy Advisor on Native American issues.

“I congratulate Kim on her appointment, and I know she will serve all Native Americans with distinction and diligence.  She has been a personal friend and a close ally for my office on a number of tribal issues since my election in 2004.  Oklahomans can be proud to have one of our own representing the needs of the tribes and our state in the Obama Administration.”

Teehee, a member of the Cherokee Nation who was raised in Claremore, has worked for U.S. Rep. Dale Kildee, D-Mich., the Co-Chairman of the U.S. House of Representatives Native American Caucus, since 1998.  Teehee’s parents still reside in Claremore, and work for the Claremore Indian Hospital.  She has been involved in Native American policy since 1990 when she was an intern for the Cherokee Nation.  She earned her law degree from the University of Iowa in 1995.
