BOREN TO OPEN DISTRICT OFFICE IN DURANT

WASHINGTON D.C. - U.S. Representative Dan Boren announced today the opening of a new district office in Durant, OK.  The office, located at 112 N. 12th Ave., will open Monday, June 15th to assist citizens in Durant, the rest of Bryan County, Atoka County, Johnston County, Coal County, Choctaw County, Hughes County, and the Lake Texoma area.

“It is an honor to open a district office in Durant to serve several communities and the citizens living in the southwest portion of the Second Congressional District.

The Second District, comprised of 25 counties in eastern Oklahoma, is one of the largest Congressional districts in the nation.  That’s why I felt it was important to expand my office’s outreach by adding this office to our other locations in Claremore, Muskogee, and McAlester,” Boren said.

Boren continued, “Providing constituent services across the district is every bit as important to me as traveling to Washington each week to represent eastern Oklahoma on the floor of the U.S. House; probably even more important.

Serving constituents, whether it’s assistance with a federal agency or some other need, is the best way an elected official can truly help people and benefit their daily lives.  Maintaining a strong community presence and learning the thoughts and needs of the people back home is also a critical part of my decision-making at the Capitol.”

The Durant office will be staffed by Joe Hill, Field Representative, and Scott Smith, Caseworker, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.  Mr. Hill will continue serving the southwestern portion of the Second Congressional District as a community liaison for constituents, civic organizations, as well as local, county, and state government agencies.  Mr. Smith will be available to help resolve citizens’ issues with federal agencies, whether it is obtaining veterans’ benefits, receiving Social Security benefits, or expediting a passport for travel abroad, to name a few.

Congressman Boren will also be hosting a ribbon cutting and open house at the Durant office on July 1st to which the public is invited.

“This new district office will add to the strong record of community representation that I and my staff have worked hard to establish over the last 5 years.  I invite all citizens in the area to please stop by anytime if they are in need of assistance, or even just to say hello.  We look forward to serving you, and I hope to see you at the official ribbon cutting on July 1st.”
