U.S. CHAMBER HONORS BOREN WITH SPIRIT OF ENTERPRISE AWARD

WASHINGTON D.C. - U.S. Congressman Dan Boren was honored today by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce with the Spirit of Enterprise Award for his voting record on behalf of Oklahoman and American businesses during the second session of the 110th Congress.  The award presentation was held in Washington D.C. this morning.

“I am honored to receive this award,” Boren said.  “A healthy business environment is critical to Oklahoma’s economy.  I am committed to doing everything I can in Congress to help Main Street, stabilize our economy, and create jobs in eastern Oklahoma.”

“Last year in particular, Congress had to make some tough choices, and Representative Boren clearly demonstrated his commitment to the economy and keeping America competitive in an ever-changing global market,” said Thomas J. Donohue, president and CEO of the U.S. Chamber. “The Chamber is proud to present Representative Boren with the Spirit of Enterprise Award on behalf of businesses large and small.”

With a cumulative score of 88 percent for the 110th Congress, Boren was the highest rated Democrat in the entire U.S. House of Representatives.  The rating is based on 18 key votes on issues ranging from economic and civic infrastructure development, to energy policy and tax relief – all issues vital to Oklahoma businesses.

“I must also thank each local Chamber of Commerce in the 25 counties of the Second District.  They provide important support for economic development and job creation in our local communities,” Boren said.  “Their hard work and dedication is a large part of making Oklahoma strong by preserving job and career opportunities.”

Boren has received the Spirit of Enterprise award each of the four years that his service record in Congress has been eligible.  This is the twenty-first year that the Chamber has formally honored the accomplishments of a select group of members of Congress.  The U.S. Chamber is the world’s largest business federation representing more than 3 million businesses and organizations of every size, sector, and region.
